Recently I gifted myself a new ring - it's part of a private crystal collection I offer to my students and clients.

Each piece is individually Reiju-attuned, using a traditional method taught by Usui Sensei for people who couldn’t receive hands-on Reiki in person. It’s a beautiful way to extend the offerings of Reiki beyond the Reiki room and is a traditional Japanese Reiki technique unknown in Western systems.
A quick note about the stones themselves:
Reiju is the traditional method Usui Sensei used to open a person's connection to Reiki.
When Reiju is offered to a natural crystal or stone, it powers it up in different ways, depending on the stone. Crystal quartz, for example, has a unique structure that easily absorbs and holds subtle energy. This is why it is used for watched and clocks, when a gentle pressure is applied to attune it to the rhythm of time, it maintains it indefinitely. With Reiki and Reiju, the Reiju attunes the quartz to the frequency of Reiki, which it hold indefinitely, offering it's form of healing through contact and close proximity to the quartz.
With other natural stones, Reiju amplifies their natural healing properties. It powers them up!
This ring, made of gold and smoky quartz (which has grounding healing qualities) was one of those pieces. I was obsessed with this ring and couldn't help but steal it from the collection - one of the great perks of having the collection in the first place!
The Great Vanishing
And this beautiful ring that I was obsessed with?…
I LOST it.
For days.
Every day it was missing, I checked all the usual places I take it off… and all the unusual ones.
Under furniture.
Behind random objects.
Inside cupboards.
At one point I genuinely wondered if I’d thrown it out while cleaning, which wasn't far-fetched considering I had been known to accidentally throw my car keys in the bin before!
By yesterday I was convinced it had vanished into the void forever.
Enter Reiji Ho — A Traditional Reiki Technique Adapted For Finding Lost Objects
Reiji Ho is a traditional Japanese Reiki technique used to receive spiritual guidance during hands-on practice. But it can also be used to find lost objects. This is one of many traditional techniques that simply never made it into most Westernised Reiki systems, and it’s one of the reasons I love the original teachings so much. Like so many of the traditional Reiki techniques, they offer much more focussed and targeted healing (or in this case finding lost items) which allows for more efficient outcomes. There are various techniques for various mental and physical conditions that go well beyond the standard hands-on practice.
This last Saturday, I was dressed and ready to head out for dinner with friends, and with ten minutes to spare, motivated by my desperation to want it out, I sat down and did Reiji Ho!
In the first minutes or so, my mind filled with all the usual places it could be - in other words, my brain was actively participating in the search, which is not what the technique calls for. This is about 'receiving' Divine guidance, not helping the Divine! So I made the decision to step back, surrender and allow a spaciousness, a blankness, trusting the guidance would come to me. And within ONE MINUTE of doing the technique, a very clear image appeared in my mind’s eye: a mannequin hand.
I know straight away what it was. It was one of the mannequins hands in the Reiki room where I hold sessions, on the table that displays all the crystal jewellery and stones I offer clients and students. I thought, no way…assuming my mind was confusing it with the other rings already sitting on those stands.

But I went to check anyway.
And I was totally shocked!
There it was!
My ring!
Sitting perfectly on the display hand!
I have zero memory of putting it there. Apparently I go into a trance when I tidy. I don't remember even going near that table, let alone putting my well-loved ring on the mannequins hand!
My Friends' Reactions
At dinner, I told my friends the whole story and they we as amazed as me and told me I should start advertising myself as the go-to person for finding lost keys. Apparently there’s a market for this. “KEY-WOMAN!” they said!
Honestly… I’m just thrilled I can use this traditional technique to find my own lost things. That alone will keep me more than busy on the daily!
Safe to say, I am very excited (and grateful) for this new little magic trick!
